Safety is our #1 priority at WayForward. We train, evaluate and continually seek to improve our protocols to make sure each experience is the best it can be.

Communication - WayForward basecamp maintains contact with each group on trail throughout the week. This is done through a satellite communication device, called a Garmin InReach. The device delivers and receives text messages and shares GPS location information. If a situation arises from a participant's home, the leadership team will discuss all options with an outside party and come to a conclusion that maintains the safety of all involved while accommodating the needs of each participant and their family. 

Medical Situations - WayForward guides are trained to handle medical situations on trail and provide the highest level of care in the backcountry. Should a guide determine that a participant need further medical assistance, he or she shall follow company guidelines to facilitate the removal on an individual to receive the care they need. This can include a guide evacuation, assisted evacuation or a call to Search & Rescue for the highest level of assistance.


COVID-19 Protocol

WayForward has been thinking about your safety long before COVID-19 came on the scene. As an operation known for taking care of the details so you don’t have to, we’ve enhanced our processes and sanitation so you can be confident your experience will be five-star in every area.

Early Detection Screening - All staff, clients and guests will fill out a pre-screening questionnaire and receive an in-person check up prior to entering the WayForward Lodge.

Continued Monitoring - We will regularly monitor our staff and clients for any symptoms pertaining to COVID-19.

Consistent Sanitation - We know that clean hands are the first line of defense against the spread of communicable disease. Accordingly, we emphasize and require hand hygiene multiple times throughout the day and have hand sanitizer stations throughout The Lodge. We will sanitize and disinfect heavily used surfaces daily.

Swift Action - There is a decisive plan for what takes place upon the first sign of symptoms and when it becomes necessary for someone to exit Basecamp or the trail experience for testing.

Five-Star Service - As we adjust and accommodate for the current circumstances, our commitment to service hasn’t changed…it will simple be expanded. Your safety and satisfaction will remain of utmost importance as we guide your experience. Food preparation, presentation and service will continue to be five-star, both on trail and at The WayForward Lodge.
